This town is located in Barbour County, and has just under 15,000 residents. Eufaula, Alabama was founded as a center of trade due to its presence on the Chattahoochee River and its rich soil. Prior to the civil war it was the major shipping and commercial center of the region. The legacy of that period is its 700 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including its classic Carnegie Library with colonial balcony. Many of these are beautiful historic homes in the antebellum and Victorian styles.
