What Is Special about Washington

The concentration of active communities makes this an appealing area for retirement. So does the climate, which is dry and offers low humidity. The desert scenery and nearby national parks are a big draw for outdoor oriented folks. The city has at least 10 parks as well as a public golf course, the Green Spring Golf Course. There is a 110,000 sq.ft. Community Center with indoor acquatic center that is a big draw.

What Is Not Special about Washington

Many people will find the area too remote. Las Vegas is 114 miles away, while Phoenix is more than 200. 

Climate and Physical Environment

Washington has a hot, desert environment in summer. Winters are relatively mild for Utah. Humidity is low. Average January temperatures are in the low 40s and average July temperature in high 80s.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

There is not too much going on in Washington except for recreation and a few festivals. The Washington Historical Museum is downtown. St. George will provide more options.

Crime

The crime rate is much lower than the national average for both property and violent crime categories.

Medical Facilities

Dixie Regional Medical Center in nearby St. George provides acute care and emergency services. Other hospitals are in Mesquite, NV.

Transportation

Interstate 15 runs through town. St. George has a good new airport.
