What Is Special about Avon Lake
Avon Lake is located along the Shores of Lake Erie with a very low crime rate and offers all types of outdoor recreation for every season. The town is home to parks, and trails for cross country skiing, biking and hiking. The Avon Lake Library is located at the end of a paved trail which makes for a nice walk to the library through the woods. The town also boasts a huge $4.2 million outdoor aquatic center and features a lap pool and a lazy river, popular with all ages including seniors. Cleveland and all its cultural events are nearby, with Avon Lake having easy access to Interstate 90 to downtown and to the airport.
What Is Not Special about Avon Lake
Although Avon Lake is not in the snowbelt, it can get over 40 inches of snow during the winter months; high real estate taxes; the town has sidewalks throughout, but there is no real "downtown", so to speak.

January's average temperature is 29 degrees, with July's average at 75 degrees. Avon Lake's snow average is about 42 inches.

Avon Lake is dotted with restaurants, and shops, but because of its close proximity to Cleveland, residents here have convenient access to museums, the Indians', Browns', and Cavaliers' stadiums, The Playhouse Square (the country’s largest performing arts center outside of New York), the Cleveland Orchestra, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, along with a system of Metroparks.
