Living a Golf Lifestyle in Casa Grande, Arizona

Casa Grande is a town in Arizona where it is easy to find a place to play golf.   Mission Royale is an active community that is big on golf and Francisco Grande is a hotel resort with golf. The population is 41,000 and the location is almost half way to Tucson from Phoenix. Casa Grande is home to many retirees and snowbirds.  Most of the town infrastructure is new with chain stores and big box stores a big part of the landscape.

Where to Retire in Casa Grande and Home Prices

Many of the 55+ people in Casa Grande tend to live in the active adult communities spread out around the outskirts of the town (see link at top left). Most of those are gated communities and have amenities like golf courses.

in early 2023, Zillow reported the median home value to be $329,896. Homes in some of the nicer developments will be higher than that.

What Is Special about Casa Grande

This part of southern Arizona is a little less overdeveloped than the Phoenix region. Casa Grande has a mix of old Arizona and modern buildings. The shopping is very good, and the desert and the mountains are beautiful. Casa Grande was home to a collective farm society which was part of the New Deal, and today it is home to the Francisco Grande Hotel and Golf Resort, and was the former spring training camp of the San Francisco Giants. The famous Hohokam Indian Ruins are 20 miles to the northeast.

What Is Not Special about Casa Grande

Casa Grande has just about everything to offer, it doesn't have a Costco or a large variety of chain restaurants. 

Climate and Physical Environment

Casa Grande is halfway between Tucson and Phoenix in southern Arizona. The normal high temperature in January is 65 with a normal low of 38. The normal July high temperature is 105 with a low of 78. Casa Grande averages 10" of rain per year.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

The Musuem of Casa Grande offers wonderful insight on the history of the community. Casa Grande Main Street hosts regular activities, including car shows, art, and preformances. The Casa Grande Public Library is a 16,000 sq.ft. facility with 75,000 volumes.

The crime rate in Casa Grande is higher than the national average.

Medical Facilities

Banner Casa Grande Medical Center is a full hospital and serves the residents of Casa Grande.

You will also find a wide variety of doctors and medical facilities thoughout Casa Grande including many specialties. 

Transportation

Casa Grande Municipal Airport is on the west side of town and services small planes and annually hosts the very popular Cactus Fly-In. Like most communities in Arizona, Casa Grande is mainly car dependent for running most errands, with some neighborhoods having better walkability than others.
