Living a Gated Community Lifestyle in Barrington, Illinois

Barrington is a very wealthy village and suburb west of Chicago and near Elgin.  The village, population just over 10,000,  is noted for its Victorian, Victorian Gothic, Queen Anne, and other popular late-nineteenth century architecture. Barrington is west of Chicago near the Fox River. The average January low is about 17 and the July high is 84. August is the wettest month with about 5" of rain.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

In addition to the Catlow Theatre there is a fine library and an active Historical Society. There are festivals including the Great Taste Fest of Barrington which exhibits food from local restaurants, and the Concours d'Elegance (high end car show).

Crime

The crime rate is about one third the national average.

Medical Facilities

Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital serves Barrington, there are other hospitals in nearby Hoffman Estates.

Transportation

Amtrak is 18 miles away in Glenview; Chicago O'hare International Airport is 25 miles away.
