Climate and Physical Environment

The city lies in the northcentral part of California, not far from Sutter's Mill and the orginal California Gold Rush. The Sacramento and American Rivers flow together here.  Summers are hot and dry with July's average 76 degrees. Summer heat is often moderated by a sea breeze known as the "delta breeze" which comes through the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta from the San Francisco Bay, and temperatures cool down sharply at night. In winter, the average January temperature is in the low 46 degrees.  The foggiest months are December and January with Tule fog that can be extremely dense, lowering visibility to less than 100 feet (30 m) and making driving conditions extremely hazardous. Chilling tule fog events have been known to last for several consecutive days or weeks.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

The Community Center Theatre and Memorial Auditorium have many performances including Ballet, Opera, and the Philharmonic perform here; The Wells Fargo Pavilion presents sporting events, concerts, and theater, and there are other theaters in town as well; The Crocker Art Museum is the oldest public art museum west of the Mississippi River; Golden 1 Center sits in the heart of downtown Sacramento, and is home to all things entertainment. The huge arena seats approximately 19,000, and hosts live musical concerts, basketball games, entertainment, and many local events; Fieri owns a fusion-style restaurant called Tex Wasabi's

Crime rate is higher than average and will vary by neighborhood.

Kaiser has hospitals here, but the major hospital is the UC Davis Medical Center.

Transportation

Sacramento International Airport serves the region. There is Amtrak service as well as one of the busier bus and light rail systems in the country.
