Beaches with no hurricanes

Postby cyclerguy » Wed Sep 14, 2011 10:27 pm

Hurricane Irene taught me a new respect for hurricanes. Here in the Northeast we were hit hard. In many CT towns like Madison and Milford many of the beaches were wrecked and worse, so were some of the homes. Makes me think my quest for a beach town ought to be some place where storm damage is at a minimum. But then you look at California and Oregon beaches and those waves and storms are so powerful, that's not a solution. I guess if you love the beach like I do you just have to take your chances.

Great Beach Towns

Postby somewhat60 » Wed Oct 26, 2011 11:32 am

My favorite beach town of all is Ocean City, NJ. It is so low key and the beaches are so great. Worked here in college parking cars at Hogates Seafood Restaurant and hung out at the beach all day. Plenty of nice houses on the beach or nearby. Plus places on the bay offer great boating and fishing. And fortunately, hurricane damage has been minimal for a long time - knock wood!
