Living a College Town Lifestyle in Corsicana, Texas

Navarro College students make themselves at home about 50 miles south of Dallas in the small college town of Corsicana.  The population is over 26,000 and growing.

The Corsicana downtown supports an active performing arts community with year-round live theater, art exhibits, and music performances in a corner of downtown anchored by the Warehouse Living Arts Center and the Palace Theater. There are some interesting shops and buildings, including an active YMCA. The Collin Street Bakery is a local landmark.

There is at least one active adult community in Corsicana (see link at left). Homes are way below the national average and Zillow reports the median home value to be $94,430 in early 2020.

What Is Special about Corsicana

Downtown features the historic State National Bank building. The town strives hard to be a vital and interesting place. Navarro College adds to the fabric of the town. There is also a popular green park a short walk from the county courthouse downtown, with meandering creeks, walking, jogging and bike trails, lnd lighted tennis courts.

What Is Not Special about Corsicana

Corsicana is a fairly small town and the crime rate is higher than average.

Corsicana is in southeast central Texas. The average July high temperature is 95 and the average January low is 34. The wettest month is May (5")

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

The Navarro College Performing Arts Department stages several musical recitals and two staged plays a year at the Dawson Auditorium. There is a multi-plex cinema.  Museums include Pioneer Village, which offers reconstructed buildings and artifacts from the early historical period of the area, as well as a museum to Lefty Frizzell, a Nashville singer born in town during the late 1920s. The Cook Education Center on the Navarro College campus is a multi-facted venue offering event space,  a planetarium, Civil War museum, and Western Art gallery.

Navarro Regional Hospital serves Corsicana.


Corsicana does have a regional airport; the nearest international airport is in Dallas approximately 75 miles away; Corsicana is below average in walkability when compared to other towns.
