Living a College Town Lifestyle in Lincoln, Nebraska

Lincoln is home to Union College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the flagship school of the state (the Cornhuskers).  The Cornhuskers bring big time excitement and sports to this, the capital city of Nebraska with about 250,000 residents.  Many of the city's neighborhoods are popular with students, such as College View (adjacent to Union College). Lincoln is so big that it has a large variety of interesting neighborhoods to live in. College View was once a separate village and is adjacent to Union College.  This Historic Bungalow District has some interesting architectural examples. The median price of a home in Lincoln was $280,800 in the 2nd quarter of 2022, according to the National Association of Realtors.

Lincoln's average January low is just above 20 degrees (F.). It is located in southeastern Nebraska.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

In addition to the cultural offerings from the University, Pershing Auditorium is a major venue for national acts, as is the Lied Center. The Douglas Theatre has frequent performances.  There is a children's zoo, Sunken Gardens, and various museums including the Great Plains Art Museum.

Crime

The crime rate is slightly below the U.S. average, which is quite unusual for a city of this size.

BryanLGH Medical Center  consists of two major hospitals and various outpatient facilities.

Transportation

Lincoln has all the major transportation options - a big airport, Amtrak, and interstate highways.
