Hertford is a small town good for boating and fishing in North Carolina's Inner Banks region. There are lots of bays and rivers for cruising and fishing, and some of the developments have slips attached to the homes. The population was 2,185 at the 2008 census. Hertford is the county seat of Perquiman county. This town in northeastern NC tretches from the Albemarle Sound to the Great Dismal Swamp, Perquimans means "Land of Beautiful Women."
