Boulder City was built by the government in 1931 to house workers for the Hoover Dam. The population in 2010 was 15,000. It is located about 30 miles from Las Vegas. Today the town appeals to a mix of residents. Great small town atmosphere, the city has a strict growth policy. There are lots of local shops, restaurants, parks and other attractions. The city has several festivals throughout the year, a private airport and two public golf courses. Nearby Lake Mead offers a variety of water sports and sporting events throughout the year. Boulder City is in the southern tip of Nevada near Arizona and Utah. Average winter temperature is in the mid 40's with the average July temp about 90. This is a desert, relieved by the presence of Lake Mead.

The Boulder City Library has an impressive operating budget over $1.5 million. There is a municipal golf course. Las Vegas is within 20 miles so there is plenty of culture and entertainment there.
