Zillow calls Margate a "Hot Market" in late 2018, reporting that the median home value was $200,500 at this time and has been climbing the last few years. It is still considerably less than the national average. There are many active adult communities here as well as in surrounding communities like Coconut Creek and Pompano Beach.

It is inexpensive place to live since it is not particularly near the ocean. Crime is low.

Compared to some other communities near the coast there is not much happening in Margate.

Climate and Physical Environment

Being in South Florida, winters are warm (Jan. average temp is 60 and July average in the 80s).  It is flat and west of I 95, north of Ft. Lauderdale.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

The city is trying to make the downtown interesting with events like the July 4th Fireworks, Winter Solstice, Margate Street Festival and St. Vincent’s Carnival.

Crime is just over half of the national average.

Northwest Medical Center provides acute medical services in Margate. There are numerous hospitals in nearby Pompano Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.

Transportation

Amtrak is 8 miles away in Deerfield Beach; the nearest large airport is Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport about 20 miles away.
