Living a Boating Lifestyle in Homosassa, Florida

Homosassa is a great boating town on the northern part of Florida's west coast.  The area is famous for its nature viewing as well as for the emphasis it places on safe boating to protect acquatic wildlife, particularly manatees.  With all of the bays and the Gulf of  Mexico there are plenty of places to boat in the area.  Homosassa is a small town with less than 3,000 people.     The area is notable for outstanding wildlife viewing at the Homasassa Springs State Park, although it does not receive as much tourist attention as other areas. There was a former oranage plantation and sugar mill run by slave labor, which is now the  Yulee Sugar Mill Ruins State Historic Site   Photo of Homassa Springs State Park courtesy of Wikipedia and Ebyabe.
