What Is Special about Toccoa

Toccoa means beautiful in Cherokee. During WWII there was an army paratrooper training base here, now the Currahee Military Museum celebrates that history. The downtown has been redeveloped and attracts locals and tourists.

What Is Not Special about Toccoa

The nearest large city (Atlanta) is about 100 miles away, and the crime rate is high.

Climate and Physical Environment

The average January temperature is about 40 and the average July temperature in the high 70s. Obviously it can get much hotter in the heat of the day.
