Charlottetown is located on the south central coast of Prince Edward Island on Charlottetown Harbour, where three rivers come together. Winters are cold (but warmer than some places in the Canadian interior), summers are very brief but lovely.

The Confederation Centre of the Arts provides the Charlottetown Festival including an annual production of Ann of Green Gables. More small theaters and galleries are located near the Confederation center including the MacKenzie theatre, the arts guild, Pilar Shepard gallery, and the Kier gallery.
