Living a Beach Lifestyle in Fairhope, Alabama

Fairhope, Alabama is near the Mobile Bay, an inlet of the Gulf of Mexico. Much of the town is either on or near the Bay so it close to many beaches such as those at Points Clear. The beaches on the Gulf  below Bon Secour Bay are particularly nice, and there are many beach resorts there. Fairhope has a humid subtropical climate. It experiences hot, humid summers and generally mild winters, with average high temperatures ranging from 90°F (31.7 C) in the summer to 59°F (15 C) high during winter. Fairhope started as an utopian experiment, but now it is an artist's/intellectual's colony… boutique resort… and affluent suburb of Mobile. In fact, some local residents refer to Fairhope as "Carmel-by-the-Bay".

The Adult Recreation Center has 1200 members and a daily roster of activities that range from exercise classes to bridge. The center's Big Band dances attract folks from far away.
