What Is Special about Philadelphia

Living so close to the center of American history has to be a thrill.  Birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and home of Benjamin Franklin make Philadelphia a special place. The urban lifestyle in Philadelphia, where owning a car is not necessary, is quite appealing. There are lots of great restaurants, museums, and shopping.  Philadelphia is above average in walkability when compared to other citiies.

Climate and Physical Environment

Philadelphia is in extreme southeastern Pennsylvania across the Delaware from New Jersey.  The Schuylkill River goes through the western part of the city.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Rodin Museum, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts are just some of its atttractions. Independence National Historical Park is one of the top historical attractions in America. Every type of sports team is represented here as well. The presence of several major colleges and universities make this a very sophisticated town.

Crime

As in most large cities, the crime rate is well above the national average.

Medical Facilities

The many medical facilities located here include Temple University Hospital, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and the VA Medical Center.
