What Is Special about Vista

The dry and hilly terrain is pretty and it is also reasonably close to the ocean. Brengle Terrace Park houses the Moonlight Amphitheatre,  a baseball field, a senior center, a playground, and the community center.  Alta Vista Gardens  is a city-owned botanical garden there.

What Is Not Special about Vista

Southern California is expensive and traffic can be bad.

Climate and Physical Environment

Vista is 7 miles from the Pacific Ocean and northeast of San Diego.  The average January temperature is in the mid 50's and the July temperature in the 70's.  It gets a few inches of rain each winter month and almost no precip in the summer time.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Vista is home of a Japanese-American Cultural Center and Buddhist Temple. The Moonlght Amphitheatre and Avo Playhouse provide musical productions and plays.

The crime rate is lower than the national average.

Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside is one of many nearby hospitals, including major ones in San Diego.

Transportation

San Diego offers a major airport, while Oceanside has an AMTRAK and commuter railroad station.
