Living a College Town Lifestyle in Loveland, Colorado

Located near Fort Collins, Loveland is a rapidly growing, artsy college community in northeastern Colorado. The population in 2006 was just over 60,000 and growing rapidly. It was originally an agricultural community famous for sugar beets and cherries.

Denver is about 50 miles to the south, and there are plenty of ski resorts nearby. Loveland enjoys a very low crime rate and has been chosen for numerous awards as a great community in which to live.  There is a popular public arts program with 300 pieces of art. There are 2 community colleges in Loveland, which is home to many Evangelical Christians.

What Is Special about Loveland

In addition to numerous awards as a "best" place to live, Loveland is a popular town for artists. Its Valentine remailing program, which packages Valentines with lines of verse and then remails them to the intended recipients.  Outdoor recreation is outstanding with its nearby mountains, state parks, and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Climate and Physical Environment

Loveland is a city in Larimer County of Colorado that is 10 miles south of Fort Collins and 46 miles north of Denver. Lake Loveland provides nearby recreation. It is on the Colorado Front Range along the Big Thompson River Canyon. It is near the entrances to Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Loveland has a well-deserved reputation as a town for art and artists. More than 300 public sculptures are in the Benson Sculpture Garden. There is an outdoor sculpture festival in August, as well as an art museum and galleries.
