Port Isabel is a resort and boating town of about 5,300 on a barrier island in extreme southern Texas, almost in Mexico. Fishing, beach going, going out in the boat around the barrier island and into the Gulf are all popular activities.  Corpus Cristi is just to the north. Surrounding towns include South Padre Island, Harlingen, and Laguna Vista. Port Isabel is a beach town and a popular resort. The area is quiet and the weather is warm in the winter.
