McCormick is a very tiny town in western South Carolina near Lake Thurmon, one of the county's largest man-made lakes. As such that makes McCormick a very popular place for boating. Its population is about 1500. McCormick is a very low cost place to retire.

There is at least one active adult community in McCormick (see link at top left). The town is so small it is hard to report median home prices, but Zillow reports the median home value in McCormick County was $280,637, in mid-2022.

McCormick is located on beautiful Lake Thurmond in northwestern South Carolina near the Georgia border. The average July high temperature is 95 and the average January low is 31. The wettest month is March (5").

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

McCormick does have a few restaurants, and it is home to the "Mack" (McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah), which presents artist exhibits and hosts community programs and events.
