Take it from a 61 year old male resident life long resident, Portland "ain't what it used to be". You don't want to retire here. We can hardly wait to leave for sunnier and less congested climes. Property prices and taxes are sky high.

Sure, the place is beautiful. You can enjoy the mountains and the coast in just a few hours drive, that is if the traffic doesn't waste your entire day.

Great medical facilities too. And don't forget all the restaurants and cultural events, again - just be prepared to wait.

And don't forget to lock your doors, as gang and all sorts of violence are rampant.

Our famous former Governor, Tom McCall once said: "Please come and visit, and then go home!" I urge you to heed this advice.
